Going out as the final driver in the final round of qualifying, Biffle posted a speed of 192.955 mph to earn pole position for the Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola.

Defending champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. starts 16th. Tony Stewart begins his final race at Daytona from 19th. Austin Dillon starts sixth a year after his harrowing crash at the race’s finish.

It’s Biffle’s 13th career pole, but his first since 2012. He’ll be seekng his first win since 2013 in Saturday night’s race.

“It means a lot to us. What means more is all these other teams coming up and congratulating us,” Biffle said. “I’m just really excited for the whole team.”

Carl Edwards turned a lap of 192.748 mph and will start alongside Biffle on the front row. Only a few hours after cutting down a tire and crashing hard into the outside wall in practice, Kyle Busch qualified third in his backup car. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Brad Keselowski will start fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Coke Zero 400 is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m. ET. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to impact the race, possibly halting it about 9.
