Add Coby White’s reaction to UNC teammate Cam Johnson becoming a lottery pick to that list. White was told of Johnson’s selection at No. 11 overall while speaking to media in the backroom, then provided a reaction of pure, unadulterated joy after seeing his teammate taken so high.

Johnson, of course, was not expected to become a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. And while he did move up in most mocks as the draft approached — Sporting News projected him at No. 23 overall to the Grizzlies — no one thought he’d be taken so early.

Johnson, a former three-star recruit out of high school, turned in such a fantastic senior season (16.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists) for UNC that Phoenix seemingly thought he was worth the risk at No. 11. He and White led the Tar Heels to a 29-7 campaign in 2018-19 and a Sweet 16 berth.

White’s reaction to the whole thing just makes it that much sweeter.
