The premise of Second Extinction is simple. Players have to retake the planet from a swarm of mutated dinosaurs that have claimed Earth as their own. The first trailer for Second Extinction shows the players exploring a wilderness environment bereft of human life, but full of dinosaurs including strange blue raptors and what looks like a giant tyrannosaurus rex. Odds are that’s just the start of what dinosaurs are included.

Second Extinction is being developed by Systemic Reaction, a smaller team of veterans from the Avalanche Studios Group. In 2019 Systemic Reaction released Generation Zero, an open-world first-person sci-fi shooter that can be played with up to three friends. Second Extinction looks to pick up from some of Generation Zero’s best ideas.
Little is known about Second Extinction’s release right now other than it will have Xbox Smart Delivery, allowing those who buy the game for Xbox One to also play it on Xbox Series X. Expect more information regarding Second Extinction and the fight against its mutant dinosaurs in the weeks and months to come.
Second Extinction is confirmed for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
